CPS has surpassed the previous year’s graduation rate every year since 2012, growing from a 59-percent graduation rate in 2012 to a record-high rate of 78.2 percent in 2018.
CPS is leading the nation in student growth. A recent look at CPS elementary students’ standardized test scores from 2009 through 2014 compared to national averages among other public schools showed CPS students completing six years of academic progress in a five-year period, more than any other public school system in the country.
